CONTEMPLATING OULIPO AND PATAPHYSICS

Am I such the fool, delivering my sanity
on a platter of aspic,
A brain made cotton-silly with fear
Wobbly as jelly in some half-baked idea
That any challenge is as good as the next
As long as I catch fire with the muse

Take the endless trip to inspiration, trusting
it will leave most of my synaptic cells
intact to celebrate a victory,
Be it a motley or disingenuous one

I don't want to miss out on another rowing
toward god
No matter how little or how much I might
believe in the pseudo-paradise
I've been sold;  I'll take it on faith
It will be mine as long as I keep on keeping on.

  1. You don't have to row, Charon does that but you'll need a penny for the ferryman. Outwit him as long as possible!

  2. Sharon, what a brilliant use of the Wordle. I went straight toward birthdays and being silly... your phrase, "A brain made cotton-silly with fear," is both inventive and telling. Intense stuff here, and I read it twice... just so much to take in! Thanks, and sorry I've been out of touch... the gremlindeep caught me by the heel again. Amy

  3. Agree with you oldegg, I think it Anne Sexton who wrote of "the awful rowing toward God" and it's always stuck with me...and Amy...how wonderful to see you here! Sorry to hear the gremlindeep's been revisiting you...damn interloper...thanks for coming by with your always insightful comments. You may be out of touch but you're never out of mind. Be well.
