SMALL STONES
In 2011, I am going to take up a challenge offered by Fiona Robyn, the small stones poet who has written about capturing perfect moments each day in succinct ways with words that match the moments.
Below are bare-bones instructions copied from Robyn's website:
About a small stone: a small stone helps me pay proper attention to one thing every day. I hope it will help you to do the same.
About a river of stones: If you're new, start here. a river of stones is an international project to encourage people to engage with the world through writing a short observational piece every day during January. Join us! ESPECIALLY in January...
Some examples from Robyn's site:
the vivid image arises: kissing everyone's feet
in the garden next door chairs lean forward, rest their chins on the table, wait for spring.
Kaspa polishes the tiny silver spoons until they gather all the light into their arms
Some I thought of myself:
Jack sweeps the hardwood shiny gathering love and hope into a heap for his Mom.
Sunshine on snow is nature's field diamonds needing no polishing.
Waking every morning is a privilege if only we could remember it.
